And clearly as the times go by and the industry continues to fluctuate, this is still a question that can&#8217;t be definitively answered. Why? Because everyone&#8217;s needs are different&#8230;.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re thinking of a <a title="house" href="http://www.realestateweblog.org/" target="_blank">house</a>. What are the benefits? For one, you&#8217;re in control. Generally, you can paint, add on to, and landscape your house. Backyards and front yards offer more space, and sometimes even neighborhoods provide a better sense of belonging and community.</p>

<p>However&#8230;. laundry and storage can be a hassle, not to mention you don&#8217;t have freedom in making the apartment your own with paint or add-ons. You also don&#8217;t have the freedom of a backyard or front yard unless you&#8217;re on the first floor, and even then it&#8217;s still limited.</p>

Consider things such as how far from work the location is, and research the schools in the area as well. Find out if there is a homeowner’s association and what their rules are as to home features that are allowed and disallowed.</p>
<p>When it comes to planning the actual type of home, consider children and if the home is to be used as retirement home. These factors will help to decide the floor plan and layout of the new home.
